EDUCATION:

B.A. in Music from Knox College in Illinois, studying piano, organ, and voice

Studied Piano with Murray Baylor, who is currently an editor for Alfred's Masterwork Series piano music

Studied piano with Wilma Mathus for seven years as a post-graduate

Continuing education at Masterclasses and workshops in piano pedagogy

Attained over 30 post-graduate units in the Kodaly music method, folk dance, and guitar

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Over thirty-five years experience in teaching private piano

Music specialist in the public schools for several years, teaching classroom music in grades K through 8th

Piano Instructor at Los Medanos Community College for nine years, teaching adults as well as college-age students

Extensive accompanying for vocalists and instrumentalists, as well as choral groups and musical theater

Solo piano performances with the Antioch Concert Guild, and played piano with the Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra

Students have won competions and have performed for State Conventions

Several students have pursued musical careers at the college level

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS:

Charter member and past-president of the Music Teachers Association af California, Delta Chapter

Contra Costa Performing Arts Society

CIVIC ACTIVITIES:

Charter member and past-president of the Civic Arts Guild

As member of the Civic Arts Guild, raised funds for a grand piano that was donated to the city of Antioch

Appointed to the Antioch Civic Arts Commission for a four year term, during which I served as Chairperson
